Up to 2 grants are available to recent university and college graduates who would like to pursue a Master’s degree offered in English at a Greek State University during academic year 2025-2026. See "Candidate Profile" for a description of the award categories.

The official start date for U.S. Fulbright Student Research Grants in Greece is September 15. All grants need to conclude by end of June.
Orientation
Grantees are required to participate in a two-day orientation program organized by the Fulbright Foundation in Greece in late September 2025 and a seminar in Spring 2026.
Candidate Profile
This award supports enrollment at Master’s programs offered in English by Greek State Universities. The grant will provide up to 1500 USD in tuition and fees for studies through a Graduate Program in Greece for the first year only (2 semesters). Other expenses for the completion of the program must be borne on the applicant. The choice of program and discipline lies with the applicant. All fields are eligible. Students must also be officially admitted to the Greek graduate program of their choice in order to be granted Fulbright status and benefits. Foreign Language Proficiency
Some study of Modern Greek prior to arrival is encouraged in order to promote deeper engagement with the host community. During their grant term in Greece, students will be provided with a small stipend for Greek language lessons.

Letter of acceptance required prior to grant start
In order to be granted Fulbright status students must be admitted by a Graduate Program at a Greek State University by June 30, 2025. An official admission letter by the Greek host university must be forwarded to Fulbright Greece at advisor@fulbright.gr by this deadline. Graduate study can take place throughout Greece and regional diversity is encouraged. Affiliation Fees/Tuition
Partial coverage of tuition and fees (up to 1500 USD) offered to U.S. Fulbright Students to attend a Graduate Program at a Greek State University. Applies to the first year of studies only. Subsequent semesters of study for the completion of the program along with living costs need to be covered by applicant.

Additional Grant Benefits
Fulbright Greece provides a variety of cultural and networking opportunities to grantees throughout the year. Two highlight events are: a) The Spring Get Together where U.S. Fulbright scholars and students meet in early Spring to discuss about their research and to engage with each other and b) the Annual Fulbright Reception in mid-June honoring U.S. and Greek Fulbrighters and supporters of Fulbright Greece.
Estimated Cost of Living
Consider using cost of living comparison websites to gain a better understanding of the potential costs in your host country.
Housing expenses range from 600-1000 USD (studio apartment) to 800-1500 USD for 2-3 bedroom apartments per month depending on location. These rates are for furnished apartments and include basic utilities. Quality fresh produce, groceries and other types of food can be found at reasonable prices. Eating out can be fairly inexpensive. Local transportation in major cities is not expensive (Metro, tram, buses and cabs).

Dependents cannot accompany grantee for this grant.

Grantees are responsible for arranging their own accommodation in Greece.

Visa/Residency Information
Candidates will work with Fulbright Greece to obtain the correct visa and necessary documentation for their arrivals. Visas to Greece for Fulbrighters are provided free of charge. This type of visa is also a residence permit which covers the total grant period and allows for travel in and out of Greece and the Schengen Treaty Area.
