The Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship (funded by Western Sydney University - WSU) enables exceptional U.S students who have recently completed their undergraduate studies to undertake 8-10 months of study or research in an area of focus for the university.
Please note that scholarship benefits may not cover the cost of tuition fees (if applying as a degree-seeker) at WSU. Tuition fee waivers are offered at the discretion of Western Sydney University.
The Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship (funded by Western Sydney University) is seeking applicants in any of the following areas:

Candidates must commence their grants at the start of the university year in January or February 2028 with the specific start date agreed upon by both grantee and host institution (as early as July 2027 in some cases - by approval only.)
Orientation
Fulbright offers an in-person Orientation program in late February. The program includes a multi-day conference with Australian and American awardees, and concludes with an awards ceremony and Gala event, attended by distinguished delegates from Australian universities, government, cultural and research institutions, and other VIPs from the US and Australia.

Fulbright Australia has a preference for applicants who have not received a previous Fulbright award.

Programs generally commence in late January or early February 2028, aligning with the Australian academic year and Fulbright orientation activities.

Special Application Instructions
Applicants must select "Western Sydney University" in the Award Name field of the application.
For visiting student researchers, a Letter of Invitation from WSU must be included in the application.
Foreign Language Evaluation (FLE) Form
If required, submission of the Foreign Language Evaluation (FLE) form is mandatory, even if you have advanced skills or are a native speaker of the language. Failure to submit the required FLE form may impact your eligibility.

Visting student researchers seeking to complete research at WSU must include a letter of invitation with their application.
Master's candidates do not need to secure admission as part of their applications. It's recommended to include a letter from WSU inviting the applicant to apply for the award.

Affiliation Fees/Tuition
Please note that the waiving of tuition fees is at the discretion of the University and candidates are responsible for negotiating fee waivers directly with the corresponding institutions. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change, and vary with each institution. In the event a waiver is not granted, candidates should be aware that the Fulbright grant does not cover the cost of tuition fees and is for travel and stipend only.

International Travel allowance: round-trip, economy class airfare directly to and from the scholar’s home city and the city of the host institution capped at AUD$4,000 (approximately USD$2,600)
Australian Medicare: eligibility to apply for coverage (awardee only, not dependents)
Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges (ASPE): a limited Health Benefits Plan designed by the U.S. Department of State and administered by Seven Corners, Inc. Please note this plan is NOT an insurance policy
Orientation and Gala: travel, accommodation, transport and meals at the Fulbright Orientation and Gala Presentation Dinner
